A Monte Amiata Wedding: Where Victoria and Kevin Chose to Stay

Victoria and Kevin didn’t just come to Tuscany to get married. They came to live there.

The couple from Austria, who were both in their early twenties, had already made their decision before they even started planning the wedding: a stone farmhouse on the slopes of Monte Amiata, in the small town of Roccalbegna, would become their home. Restoring the house took time and patience, but by the time their wedding day arrived, it was ready to host the celebration that would mark the start of this new chapter in their lives together.

For a couple building a life in two different countries, finding an Italian wedding planner who understood what they wanted from the move was crucial in making their farmhouse the perfect wedding venue.

Morning Ceremony in Roccalbegna

The religious ceremony took place at the Collegiate Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo, in the heart of Roccalbegna. This building houses a painting attributed to Lorenzetti, which serves as a quiet reminder of the history that this small Tuscan town carries. After exchanging vows, Victoria and Kevin strolled through the village’s narrow streets for their photo shoot, with the medieval stone houses and the slopes of Monte Amiata providing a backdrop that few couples get to enjoy in their own neighbourhood.

A symbolic celebration at home

In the afternoon, the celebrations moved to the couple’s property. The two-bedroom farmhouse had been transformed for the occasion, with the addition of a dance floor, pool furnishings and a wooden arch, turning the garden into a proper wedding venue. It was under this arch that Victoria and Kevin exchanged their symbolic vows, with Lucia Herbst, the celebrant, leading the ceremony in German for their family and friends.

Three days, two cuisines!

The celebrations didn’t end with the reception. On the wedding day itself, catering by Impero brought a Florentine barbecue, followed the next morning by an Austrian-Tuscan breakfast — a small but fitting detail for a couple building their life between two cultures. La Gardenia and Erbe e Fiori designed the flowers, while Sergej of Wedding Artists kept the music going well into the night. The celebrations lasted three days and were shared with the couple’s closest friends and family.

Victoria and Kevin could have chosen anywhere for their destination wedding, but they chose this corner of Tuscany with its stone villages and quiet hillsides because it was right for them. It was right for a life. It’s this kind of story — where a wedding marks the beginning of a permanent union — that a wedding planner in Tuscany rarely gets to be part of.
